DID YOU KNOW?

The Leeward Islands are extremely popular destinations in the Caribbean, and this charter allows you to walk in the footsteps of celebrities, historical figures and legends:

– Barbuda was a favourite destination of the British Princess Diana, who chose its quiet beaches for private escapes. Her favourite hideaway on the south eastern coast is now dubbed “Princess Diana Beach”. – The island Nevis has its own historical legacy, being the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton who was the inspiration for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning musical ‘Hamilton’.  –  According to popular local legend, the border separating the French and Dutch side was determined by a race. Each side chose a man to start from opposite sides of the island and they were to walk around the coast. Where they coincided would become the border. The Frenchman drank wine while he walked, whereas the Dutchman drank gin. With the gin being so much stronger, the Dutchman was drunk and was unable to cover so much land as the Frenchman. The actual division was determined by the treaty of Concordia which was based on economic and strategic needs of the time, although the light hearted legend still persists. French wine and Dutch gin continue to be celebrated as part of local culture.
